Maltepe 7.77 is envisioned as an inclusive social center that fosters interaction among diverse age groups. Rooted in principles of equality and development, it prioritizes the physical and psychological well-being of children—the future of society—and the elderly, particularly those facing neurological or psychiatric challenges. The design merges urban and cultural context with nature, offering a vibrant public axis that connects Kadir Has Street and Coşkun Street. This axis is flanked by recreational spaces and elevated terraces, blending public interaction with open-air activities. The project transcends a single building concept, presenting an integrated vertical landscape and micro-level public area design.
Architecture and Materiality
The linear structure balances its presence as a prominent public building with sensitivity to its surroundings. Defined by a rational and layered façade, the design reflects ideals of social progress and innovative governance. Inside, flexible and multifunctional spaces adapt to dynamic usage scenarios, such as learning and activity areas for children, therapeutic environments for Alzheimer’s patients, and a communal neighborhood house. The use of sustainable timber systems supports well-being, reduces stress, and enhances natural light. The program’s interplay of functionality and aesthetic aligns with Maltepe 7.77’s mission to create a space that promotes interaction, growth, and community connection.
